Purchase
The constant was written when Thomas started out performing as a singer-songwriter. Originally just vocals and acoustic guitar, this version with Lights on the Lake is quite different. The chords and rhythms changed, inspired by old soul songs.
Elevated by Elise’s backing vocals and Marc and Sebas providing the driving rhythm section.
Lyrics
The bend is on
This is the time and place
We waited long
But now the levy breaks
And there’s a song
I know I wrote for you
It’s sad and long
I hope it gives you pauze
And you will find
I make things up now
And you will find a lifetimes worth of being upset
Careful with your words I do remind you
All I want’s to take you where
I show you something new
Hold on, you’re so strong
You need to catch me up
I need to give you up
Now come on, how will I ever know?
If you are there for me, when I go long
Careful with your words I do remind you
All I want’s to take you where
I show you something new
I punch at the markup
I listen to grace
I’m testing the water
I do it for days
Cause you are the constant
You come back new
And even when hidden
I see through you
Hold on, you’re so strong
You need to catch me up
I need to give you up
Now come on, how will I ever know?
If you are there for me, when I go long
Careful with the words I do remind you
All I want’s to take you where
Show you something new
